I have a first gen ipad pro with which I use a smart keyboard folio (which I love) and an apple pencil, 1st gen. It has taken me a while to figure out that I can’t use the pencil while the keyboard is functional, something which is very inconvenient. Can anyone tell me if the newest ipad pro allows the pencil to function while the external keyboard is functional? Thanks!!

A connected keyboard would not impact the use of Apple Pencil. I use an iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard and I have no problem picking up my Apple Pencil and using it while iPad is still connected to Smart Keyboard.

You’re talking about an newer ipad pro? I know it doesn’t work with the first gen. How does it work with charging with the magnetic strip? I assume it is used to connect to the keyboard. Can you charge the pencil at the same time? Thanks!
