THE TITLE SAYS "CURRENT STOCK QUOTE" BUT THE QUOTE IS NOT CURRENT? IT IS YESTERDAY'S CLOSE?

WHEN READING THE ARTICLE ABOUT ADDING A STOCK QUOTE TO A NUMBERS SHEET, THE TITLE OF THE ARTICLE SAYS "ADD CURRENT STOCK QUOTE", BUT THE RESULT IS NOT CURRENT.


I THINK IT IS ONLY YESTERDAY'S CLOSE. help, need current stock quote!

If it was this article https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207109 , then the title was misleading. Reading further into the article there is no option to get the actual "current" price using the STOCK function.


There is no function that provides "current" prices. The only way to get current prices into Numbers is to do it yourself. You might be able to automate it to some extent. The STOCK function isn't all that great anyway. It relies on Yahoo Finance to provide the data and, judging by the questions posted here, it is finicky.

Apple gets the financial information for the STOCK function from the Yahoo!Finance site.


When initially introduced, the function did provide more current information, but Yahoo! Finance changed what it would supply not long after that, and now provides only 'previous close values.


Feedback recommending a change of supplier can be sent to Apple via the Provide Numbers Feedback item in the Numbers menu.
