It would be very helpful if video from photos library added to the timeline could be marked as 'already in the timeline' (orange bar) as it is for the standard imovie events videos, as shown on this picture :

Yes, I guess an orange bar for videos in the Photos library would be another helpful bit of information to have. Unfortunately, to get it you would need to click on the project name under the Project Media heading in the sidebar to reveal it in the iMovie media browser.
