Heating issues MacBook Pro 13’ 2020

Hi) Last week I bought a basic model of MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch and I have noticed that it heats and make some fan noises even with some basic office work tasks. Previously, I had MacBook Pro 2017 and it has never been an issue. That’s why I am wondering, is it something wrong with my laptop or comparing to the older models all the new laptops work that loud? Thank you for the answer in advance 😌

Try plugging in the power cable into one of the right side ports instead of the left side ports. If you are experiencing excessive heating on battery power, then consider checking Activity Monitor:

Using Activity Monitor

Be sure your third-party software is fully compatible with Catalina. Check the version of Catalina that is installed. If it isn't 10.15.6, then Download and Install macOS Catalina 10.15.6 Combo Update. If you are not familiar with the T2 chip in your new computer, then read up on it: Welcome to your new Mac- living with the T2 chip, About the Apple T2 Security Chip, and Can you upgrade or repair a Mac with a T2 chip?
