Mac Pro(late 2013) Beachballing and sssllllooooowww.

I have a late 2013 Mac Pro, 1 TB Flash storage( 312.98 GB available),

four 16GB 1866MHz ECC modules (64 GB installed)

I can’t use any application for more than 5 minutes without getting a

beachball. Sometimes it goes away after a few minutes but more often t

han not I have to force quit the application. Very often I have to do

a hard shutdown because the finder is no longer responding. I often ge

t a warning that the computer is low on memory and I should close some

applications. This warning has appeared when I only have one applicat

ion running.

Here's the report from EtreCheck:

Any advice is appreciated.

Your report shows CleanMy Mac, MacKeeper, TotalAV, TotiTech and many Adware titles. Each and every one of these should be removed if you want your Mac to run properly.

You are also running a socks Proxy (this often is a sign of Adware)

You are using Configuration profiles, also a frequent sign of Adware.

Pleas post back if you need help tracking these down and killing them.

The runaway process looks like Carbonite daemon, the always running process that is supposed to keep Carbonite files up to date. It seems to be costing YOU an entire processor-equivalent to do so, which is complete nonsense. I would not keep such a road-hog on my computer.

Running proxy is a common way to get control of your computer by malware.

If you are working with someone you Trust on a special Networking setup, then I defer to you.

ok, lets start here:

Adware:

Launchd: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.NetModuleSearch.plist

Executable: ~/Library/Application Support/com.NetModuleSearch/NetModuleSearch r

Reason: Adware pattern match

Launchd: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.NetModuleSearchDaemon.plist

Executable: /Library/Application Support/com.NetModuleSearchDaemon/NetModuleSearch r

Reason: Adware pattern match

the top line. select and COPY the directory, from ~ [means current user] to the last slash, omitting the actual filename.

so Launchd: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.NetModuleSearch.plist

Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder...

and paste it in. the filename should be sitting right there. drag to Trash, but since it is part of the running system, you will not be able to empty trash until after a Restart.

Use etrecheck's Remove links for Adware.

Delete these files & restart...

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdater.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.i1Studio.tray.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.logitech.manager.daemon.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.ARM.***.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.techyutil.Utility.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.ARM.***.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.pcv.hlprnmcp.plist

~ tilde indicates hidden Home Library.

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

Method 1:

  1. From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.
  2. In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

Thanks, I'd love help tracking and killing these things. It seems that a Google search on how to do so always ends up in the opportunity to download more antivirus software I did manage to find a few toticheck items and deleted them but I can't even find CleanMy Mac, MacKeeper, TotalAV, TotiTech on my hard drive.

Here's the latest report:

Thanks Grant. Did all that, here's the report.

It still shows that There's a "Runaway Process". Not sure what that is.

I have a family member who is working remotely and her employer asked to change our router ip address. Is that what the network proxy issue is?

Here's a screen shot of the activity monitor in addition to the etrecheck report.

Your report immediately shows you are running so-called anti-Virus software Symantec. Such software has no place on your already well-protected Macintosh computer, and should be permanently removed.

Fat lot of good it did anyway -- you have lots of Adware and possible adware installed as well.

You have configuration profiles installed. Unless that is a requirement of your employer or school, that is not appropriate.

You have proxies installed. Unless that is a requirement of your employer or school, that is not appropriate.

You have CleanMy Mac installed. This slow down your computer, and should be permanently removed.

You have MacKeeper installed. It is total rubbish and should be removed.

You have OneDrive installed and running at all times. It is not a Mac Applications, and is resource hungry for no good reason.

You have DropBox running. It is far worse of a resource-hog that OneDrive. Again it COULD be efficient, but it is not a Mac-native Application, and when running, it punishes performance. If you MUST have it, run it only on-demand and quit when completed.

almost 90 percent of one full processor is running (unidentified) -- typically system extensions that do not have their own task-names. The correct number is under one percent.

This is not a complete assessment. Your system is a train-wreck, you have added WAY too much stuff for stable, responsive operation.
