Can I connect my Macbook Pro to iMac 2017 using this cable ?

I want to extend my Macbook Pro to iMac 2017, which has USB (Type C) & USB ports only. I am looking for correct adapters I need to use to connect both these systems and use iMac as the extended or mirrored display.

Can Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) Cable be used to connect both these devices for the above mentioned purpose?

No it will not work, because your 2017 iMac does not support Target Display Mode.

No iMac's after 2014 support TDM, see > Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support
