Hi again KathKGolden,

Thanks for clarifying that for us. To remove a contact from Do Not Disturb, open the conversation that has this feature enabled. Tap "Details" (or you may see a lowercase "I") in the upper right corner. From there switch off Do Not Disturb for that contact.

You can also check if the conversation is muted using the article below:

Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Turn on Hide alerts

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Swipe left over the conversation that you want to mute.
  3. Tap Hide Alerts.

When Hide Alerts is on, a crescent moon  will appear next to the conversation. This stops notifications only for that conversation, not your device. You’ll still receive all other messages and see notifications for them on your Lock screen.

Learn how to manage Messages notifications from the Lock screen."

We hope this helps you.

Cheers!

Thank you , that isn't the problem, I did not described the situation specifically enough.

I have one contact in my messages w a do not disturb next to the name. I did not put it there. a couple updates ago I had 3 contacts put on this status unbeknownst to me. I found out how to fix those but I forgot how to do it. Now I have discovered another contact with a crescent half moon next to the name in messages. I want to remove it.

Thank you for your help.
