No matter what I do, my pro is always very very hot and the battery runs down super fast. What can I do to stop this?

Percent CPU is correct, although to get a true picture of what is causing the stress, you need to set Activity Monitor's "View" option to "All Processes."
Otherwise, bad actors like anti-virus and so-called "cleaning" apps may not show up.
Check applications > utilities > activity monitor, is there a process running with high activity?
Do I look at %CPU?
If yes, it's WindowServer.
WindowServer is at 22.4%
deleted is 10.3%
kernel_task is at 8.7%
Those are always the top 3
