My iMac don't boot up. When the power button is pressed, the Apple logo appears and displays a loading progress. The the “progress” line is finished, the screen is on but blank. No activity.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Just a guess. Assuming your iMac is fairly old and if true then may need a pram battery. What you describe can happen when the pram battery is dead or soon to be....
