My boyfriend got a new phone, and the secure number that it’s sending the security code to isn’t a number he knows. He doesn’t have access to his account without that number. anyone know how to get around this?

He needs to change the number on your Apple ID. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
You can not get around it without knowing the backup codes, having access to the phone number that was put in, or having access to the rescue email.
