Thunderbolt 3 male to female extension
Hello,
I have a new MacBook Pro 16inch and a Thunderbolt Apple Display.
I have purchased the necessary TB2-3 adapter which works fine.
However, I want to extend the cable length so the laptop is not limited to being so close to the Display.
Can I use, if available, a male to female Thunderbolt 2 extension cable which would plug into the Thunderbolt 3 adapter?
Or a male to female Thunderbolt 3 extension cable which would be inserted at the Thunderbolt 3 adapter end? (Most of the cables I see for this say USB-C and I am not sure whether they will deliver true Thunderbolt capacity for me to use the Apple Thunderbolt Display).
I have read that I can use a Thunderbolt 2 cable directly from the thunderbolt peripheral on the Apple Display (and using the TB2-3 Adapter) but that means losing that slot on the display for my sound card (and meaning I would need to purchase another tb2-3 adapter for that to insert directly to MacBook Pro).
Any suggestions on the most efficient way of achieving this?
Thank you.
