i work for a small non-profit that receives donations from the community, we were given an ipad that i tried to factory restore to give to a senior to use. once it was reset from my itunes the ipad is now set with an activation lock that i can bypass because i dont have access to the icloud account. i do have their apple id i wrote it down before restoring the ipad. Can apple support help me with the issue or is it essentially a brick now

I wouldn't spend any more time dealing with this very old iPad.
Old 2011, over 9-years old iPad 2 model will NOT be too useful to anyone, anymore when initially setup as new.
These old 8 and 9-year old iPads will be rendered obsolete by the end of 2020.
Other than a half dozen or so lesser known and compatible third party Web browsers and eMail client apps, there are NO MORE older, compatible, popular, third party apps available to these old iPad models, any longer.

Apple won't address this; the activation lock is an anti-theft measure. If the Apple ID you have is an email address, or you can otherwise contact the giver, try sending them a message.
