Chess app won't let me make a legal move to capture my opponent's queen

I'm playing chess on my MacBook Pro (v.10.15.5) and the chess app won't let me make a legal move to capture my opponent's queen! I can make other moves, but I'm not in / moving into check etc.... It is a perfectly legal move I want to do... Any suggestion?
