Garageband Buzzing w/ Mic

So I just got a new mic (Rockville RCM03 Condenser) but it has one of the headphone circular jacks I'd have to put into the headphone port, so I bought a USB sound card to connect the mic to my Mac Air. I also use headphones and plug them into the actual headphone port so I can hear things, but whenever I plug the USB into the computer with the headphones when using Garageband and turning on monitoring, this buzzing sound comes on. I think I've literally tried everything from noise gate to feedback reduction to switching the physical plugs and the plug-ins, but the noise is still there. I'm starting to think it's the mic or the USB because the sound isn't there when I take the USB out and listen with my headphones. Please help

Try to take out power supply of you MacBook Air see if still has the buzzing sound. I’m not saying the MacBook power supply have some issue, try to find the root cause first, normally this is a disturbance. Specially if your power supply is plug together with electric fan, refrigerator or aircon. What I do I always plug my laptop alone in a power supply socket if I will do some recording. Just a suggestion...

Hi eli_sing16,

We understand you are experiencing an unexpected sound when monitoring the recording input in GarageBand.

We would recommend reviewing this article: GarageBand for Mac: Turn on input monitoring for audio tracks.

When your USB Audio Interface is connected, ensure it is selected as the Input.

It may also be worth your time to configure a custom Audio Device using your USB Audio Interface/Rockville Mic in Audio MIDI Setup. You can learn how to do so here: Set up audio devices in Audio MIDI Setup on Mac.

Additionally, ensure all drivers for your USB Audio Interface are updated, and if possible, test with a separate USB cable and mic cable.

Hope this helps!
