What if I didn't enter an apple id when I set up my screen time password?

I'm trying to turn off my screen time limit and I forgot the 4-digit passcode I used to set it up. When I set up screen time I'm also pretty sure that I didn't enter my apple id, when prompted. So not I can't turn off screen time, and when I hit "Forgot Password" and follow the prompts to enter my apple id and then my apple id password, it doesn't work, and I'm sent back to the lockout screen. Does anyone know how to get around this?
