Proximity Sensor and Lifeproof case

I have an iPhone XR. After ridiculous amounts of effort, I have figured out that my Lifeproof FRE case is blocking the phone's proximity sensor, making the touchscreen not work during calls.

I love Lifeproof cases because they are waterproof.

Is there a solution to this? Are there any other cases out there that are waterproof and don't have this problem? Can I turn off the proximity sensor? Or turn down its sensitivity?
