Can I upgrade my 12 inch 2017 Macbook Air OS beyond HIGH SIERRA?
Yes, I believe it can be upgraded as far as Catalina. Strongly suggest having a Time Machine Backup and a Cloned copy of SSD before attempting any upgrade. Note, Catalina does NOT support 32 bit applications

Hmmm - thank you. Each time I try to download Catalina however it simply stops. When I did some googling it indicated Catalina was only compatible on the 2017 11 and 13 inches (perhaps as the 12 inch appears to have been discontinued?) I was just wondering if anyone had successfully downloaded it onto a 12 inch 2017 MacBook Air?

this machine should be able to install Catalina. There must be some other issue preventing installation. Does the machine have enough empty space ( guessing 6 -7 GB free space )
Yes, checked that. Think the problem might be our internet - we don't have NBN and our wireless connection can be poor.
Am guessing your location is very rural and remote. Having access to Public Library or some other public place with a hi-speed internet could solve the connection issue.
