Crossy Road problem

Just recently as I am trying to make progress in the game using Apple TV and the the Apple TV remote, the character does not respond to the remotes commands and will carry on even when I’m trying to wait for traffic to pass or the screen sticks altogether.

i have tried reinstalling the game, swiping up to clear the game after each use, ensuring up to date system on Apple TV etc, but nothing seems to work.

any ideas anyone. This game is my guilty pleasure and this is driving me nuts.
