09:41 Tue 9 Jan (using QT to capture iPad screen bug?)

HI,

I use Quicktime on my MacBook pro to capture my iPad screen. This works by hooking up the ipad to the MacBook by cable, open Quicktime, select 'new video' and select the ipad as the source. Works like a charm but there is one funny thing going on:

Every time I capture the ipad screen, the date in the left top corner says 09:41 Tue 9 Jan.

When I move in the control panel the date is displayed correct. Move away the control panel and it goes back to 09:41 Tue 9 Jan, frozen in time. What??

The screenshots are made on the Macbook pro which is displaying the iPad screen in Quicktime

Hi, This does not solve it sorry.

First of all, it's not just an old date showing. The clock is not progressing. It's not running.

No matter if I use Quicktime on the MBP or 'Phone Play' (an app that does a similar thing), the date always changes to 9:41 9 Jan.

Also, the date displayed is one that precedes the production date of this iPad as well as the MBP. The last Tue 9 Jan was in 2018.

I think it best if you try it yourself. It's easy to replicate. Works with my iMac and an old iPad as well.

And not a coincidence I think: 9:41 is the time Apple often uses on product shots of iPhones and iPads. It's fixed. (the date varies)

Cheers.

Hi Buismac,

Wanted to chime in and say that I have noticed the same issue. My lecturers use iPads to record lectures and recently I have noticed the same time in the Zoom screenshares and echo360 recordings. Might be an odd property of the screen recording mechanism as you described.

Just wanted to let you know you're not alone here, seems like an os level issue.
