Managing duplicate movies across imovie libraries

Ok so I have 800GB of movie files some in raw format from the old fashioned hand held cam corder some from old phones some from old cameras and some from iPhones some from iTunes events some are in photos and in iMovie. I have ended up in a big mess with multiple iMovie libraries (8) which may or may not have had the raw files imported or picked up from photos or iTunes.

Is there any way to search for duplicate movies across multiple imove files?

I there any way to compare a folder of movies with an iMovie file to show duplicates?

Over the last 14 years with the software changes and file management changes its all a big mess. Any great hints and tips on how to get a handle on this!

Thanks.

There's really no satisfactory way to search for duplicates across multiple libraries.

You can do a search in individual libraries by sorting the clips according to date, name or duration. Select the library name in the media sidebar and do a View/Sort Clips By. With that procedure you should be able to group duplicates within that library. You would need to do that with each library because you can only search one library at a time.

Or you can search a specific library for clips by name from the Q search box above and to the right of the media browser display.
