I have never been asked for a security questions to change my apple id. However, my mother was asked for a security question but cannot remember ever setting one up. When I go into the settings section of the Apple ID on my account there is no sign of security questions or setting them up. Why is that?

You are using either two-step verification or two-factor authentication. In either case, you won't be using security questions at this point, i.e., they are irrelevant to you at this point.

When I go to my security setting after I signed in there is no reference to security questions. Why is that?
