2020 iMac missing system information?

I recently bought a 2020 iMac 2 days ago and as soon as I got it I erased the internal drive due to the fact I wanted a fresh copy of macos rather then all the apps it comes with that I don’t need that it shipped with and it wouldn’t let me use internet recovery so I used my older iMac and made a bootable catalina usb and installed it that way on the 2020 but for some reason when I go to “about this mac” on the 2020 now it doesn’t show the year of the machine or the graphics card name and it’s missing a lot of information in system information report. It didn’t have this problem when I first got it with the macos it came with and it only happened after I clean reinstalled it fresh

You need to reinstall the version of Catalina that came with it. You are installing retail versions which are not compatible with the new hardware. When you erase the drive, be sure you remove the System and Data volumes before installing macOS or you will end up with two Data volumes.

Internet/Network Recovery of El Capitan or Later on a Clean Disk

This should install the original version of macOS that came from the factory..

  1. Restart the computer. Immediately, at or before the chime, hold down the (Command-Option-Shift-R) keys until a globe appears.
  2. The Utility Menu will appear in from 5-20 minutes. Be patient.
  3. Select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button.
  4. When Disk Utility loads select the target drive (out-dented entry w/type and size) from the side list.
  5. Click on the Erase button in Disk Utility's toolbar. A panel will drop down.
  6. Set the partition scheme to GUID.
  7. Set the Format type to APFS (SSDs, only if installing Mojave or Catalina ) or Mac OS Extended, (Journaled.)
  8. Provide a volume name, usually "Macintosh HD."
  9. Click on the Apply button, then click on the Done button when it activates.
  10. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
  11. Select Install OS X and click on the Continue button.
