My iMac hard drive got partially reformatted and it won’t start up right.
I already repaid it with disk utility and redownloaded the os and still has issues

When you reformat the drive you need to open Disk Utility and go to the View Menu and select Show All Devices and then pick the top item showing under Internal so as to clear all the partitions.

Erase it. A hard disk that has been formatted incompletely will not work.
