BlueTooth HFP or HSP

I am at a point where I have bought a bluetooth headset and would like to be able to use it to make VOIP calls on my iPod. They are A2DP so I can use it for music, but I thought it'll also be nice to use my gizmo account to call people which when I tried that, it didn't work. I looked around and found this page http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3647 which says that the HFP is only supported on iPhones. There is no reason it's not supported on the iPod Touch, it can easily be done. So why not add support? I'm sure a lot of people would really like it and I'll be so happy to have my phone. I currently have to carry the headset that came with my iPod to be able to make a call which is annoying some times as they hurt my ears and it's yet another thing to carry around. Anyone have a solution? I am considering working on a project that takes open source bluetooth HFP and put it on the iPod, but I would rather have apple support it as they can do it in a night were as I would take weeks to months... I know 4.1 is coming out so if by any chance you can add it, I'll appreciate it.

MacBook 2GHz Intel Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.4), iPod Touch 3G on 4.0.
