Item on Notes has disappeared from iCloud and iPhone. Help?
How do I get back note I did not delete?

Do you remember removing the note from the Recently Deleted folder?
Thanks for the suggestions, but they did not fix my problem. I have just updated to the latest version of iOS. Then I wanted to fine a note I had kept and added to for years. Totally missing from all folders. However, in one folder, there was a grey horizontal line below the first item. I thought maybe there was something underneath, but when I tapped it there was nothing.
I did not delete anything, so this is strange
You can still reach out to Apple Support if you wish but it sounds like those notes are gone.
