Name under playlist is wrong

My fiancé sends me playlist after he makes them, and then Apple will change the name under the playlist from his name to mine? How do we make sure that it says his name as the playlist owner?

Hi there mclay2013,

We understand you have a question about sharing Apple Music playlists, and we'd like to see how we can help.

To get started, check to ensure these are the steps used to share the playlist: Create and share Apple Music playlists

Specifically, review the information below:

"Share a playlist through Apple Music

If you subscribe to Apple Music, you can make your playlists public and send them to friends.

Make a playlist public

To make your playlist public, turn on "Show on My Profile and in Search" when you create the playlist. When you make a playlist public, anyone can use search to find it.

iPhone showing the Share option in the menu that appears after you tap the More button.

Send a playlist to a friend

If you subscribe to Apple Music, you can send playlists to friends through Messages, Mail, Twitter, Facebook, using AirDrop, and more. The friend who receives your playlist must also have an Apple Music subscription.

To share a playlist, find the playlist that you want to share, then follow these steps:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap the more button the More button, then tap Share.
  • On your Mac or PC, click the more button, then Share Playlist.
• On your Android device, tap the more button the More Options button, then Share Playlist Share Playlist to see your sharing options.

After you choose how you want to share your playlist, a new window opens in the app that you chose. In some apps, you can add a message before you send your playlist."

We hope this helps!

I have a similar issue where a family member creates a playlist and a different name is under the playlist, not his. His Apple ID is his own name but all his playlists show as being made by someone else. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple this evening and they could not fix it. This is a big bug and needs to be fixed. Who wants to make playlists with someone else’s name on it?

How did you change card info ? Mine says my dad's name I'm almost positive I never used his info. But where exactly do you change it ?

Edit: had PayPal as a payment method ... My PayPal acct has my dad's name I made it for him in his eBay days but he never really understood it so I just kept using it since it had all my credentials ... Go figure !

Hi Carl, as a community specialist, would you be able to tell us how to fix an incorrect name on playlists we make?

I've looked at and tried other recommendations but they either don't work or don't apply to my situation. My son's name appears on all my playlists. The payments are all made by me on my PayPal account, and his name only occurs on his devices, none of mine. My Apple ID appears on all my devices and accounts linked to Music etc. I'm just making playlists for myself, not worried about sharing them, so don't see how his name came to appear on all my playlists.

Any chance of a solution, please?

This worked for me too. After selecting the red profile icon on the upper right, and getting to the settings screen, I then selected "Sharing" and that was where I could finally change the name to mine, and register a '@shortname'. I had tried this on my iMac but it would just spin the busy wheel indefinitely, so for me the iPhone or IOS device was what I could get to work first.

Thanks again for the solution, the issue was getting quite annoying!
