some of my contacts show up by name and email address. some only the email address. how can i change the display name to always populate by spelling of name? how do i change how google looks for the person i wish to send an email? i kind of like it when i have both the name and email address displayed.

perhaps i'm not understanding. i go to Google. then to contacts. i have opened the contact and it includes the person's first name, last and an email address. there is nothing to correct. when i try to type their name, which is way different than the address the system doesn't find their name. if i know the email address it will populate.
Oh, are you using google contacts at gmail.com, or have you setuo gMail in Apple's Mail App so you can use Apple's Contacts.app?
In Contacts open their Contact Cards & edit them.
