Reset your Mac login password - Apple Support

Your Apple ID can be used to reset a login password. Refer to If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support.

I have the same problem. I tried to reset my login password using my Apple ID credentials but it still will not do it. I checked my Apple ID and password and they are correct but it won’t work when I used to reset my login password for my MacPro.
