MacBook Pro , Apple ID

I need help. I recently signed out of my Apple ID on my Macbook Pro and when I try to log back in, it says that an "unknown error has occurred".

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

You may have and Apple server problem.

See If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201400. There have been quite a few Apple server connection problems lately. Among other things, in the above document, see Check Apple’s System Status page. You can check there to see if the needed server is available when you need to use one.

And, given the recent connection problems, I suggest you use my search link in trying to solve your problem unknown error occurred apple . You will see a number of links that are, or may be, related to it. Some claim fixes for it. But, I have not seen a definitive solution for it.

Also, below are the alert messages given in the document. But, receiving others is a possibility. Use the steps in the above document if you see one of these error messages or a somewhat similar message. See the first one below especially.

·      "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error has occurred."

·      "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

·      "Could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."

·      "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

Restart your Mac - try this once more.

Other Options:

  • Use a new Administrator user (Created in System Preferences)
  • Boot into Safe Mode: (Hold Down the shift key upon boot)
  • Use a Hardwired Connection (Ethernet) (You Might Need This: Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter)

If Nothing Above Works - Try again Later
