wifi problems on iPad

My whole house seems to be fine for WiFi, i.e. both my desktops and television, but I keep getting an error on my iPad telling me I am not connected to the Internet. I shut the iPad down and brought it up several times. What's next? Thanks for any help.

Turn off your iPad.

Turn off your modem-router, and leave it off for 5 minutes, unplugging it from power.

Restart your modem router and wait for it's complete autoconfiguration.

Restart your iPad and re-try to connect it to your wifi network.

To be sure that the problem is related to your home wifi network, you can also make this test: try to connect your iPad to a different wifi network ("borrow" one from your friends, or try to connect your device to a public network place). If your device can connect, it's a problem in your home wifi network.

Shouldn't be this case, try also to reset your network settings:

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings, keeping in mind that this procedure also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before, but NO other data is involved.

When done, restart your device.

While trying to figure this out, I hit the off button on Connect to Other Networks and now I can't get out of it. I think I will probably just try to reset the WiFi Network. Losing my iPad is one thing, if nothing works, but losing everything else is problematic. These days it is hard to get things fixed readily, so unless the entire network goes down, I would rather not start my modem at this point, although a week ago or so, the modem shut down on its own and came back with no problem. Thanks for you help.
