manage photos with a PC

There must be an easy way to manage pictures on and off the iPhone using a PC. My dad has a pc and I think the picture manager is called Microsoft picture manager.

????why in the photo tab cant he select "Microsoft picture manager" and select the files he wants so the pics go back on his phone in albums. Just like we do with iphoto on our Mac's. I keep telling him that its easy, just select your picture manager and select the picture folders. He has over 600 pics in his camera roll and he's yelling at me for a solution?????? I ditched pc's so I don't know what the sync options look like. I don't know what to tell him, or what steps to take because iTunes on my Mac looks different than on his PC.

He is OLD, and it has to be very simple.... or he will mess it up.
Anyone have an easy option please.
thank you

+On a PC, you can sync photos with Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 or later. You can also sync photos and videos from any folder on your Mac or PC that contains images.+

OK, so how do you do that????? He had a friend place a folder on his phone that contained pics, but the next time he synced with itunes, it removed the folder. So if the folders are not selected in some type of option using itunes, then each time he syncs his phone it will remove the folder. thats not good.

you said Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 or later. what are the options like using itunes??? Is it easy to sync albums ? and will syncing with itunes remove them???

tons of people are using PC, I cant believe this is not an easy thing to do?

thanks

Newapplejack - I’ve had similar issues with my Father, so I can really empathize. I don’t have all the answers for you, but let me try to get you aimed in the right direction.

First, photo management with an iPhone and a PC is _very easy_, BUT it may be a little different than with a Mac. iTunes in a PC views it’s responsibility as ONLY for downloading images from the PC to the iPhone.

To upload (import), iTunes doesn’t do that in a PC. Instead, the iPhone identifies itself to the PC as an *actual camera*. In this way, any PC-based image management software which can import from a camera or photo chip can upload pictures from the iPhone.

Okay, here’s where I run out of info for you. I’m not sure if MS Picture Manager is capable of importing from a camera. I have an old installed version, but it’s 7 years old and it does NOT appear to be capable of importing. But maybe a newer version can - I just don't know.

FWIW, I use a simple PC product named ACDSee Photo Manager. You can download a free trial version from www.acdsee.com. There are also about a zillion other PC based photo managers. At the end of the day, this process when using a PC is really a snap.....just as you suspected. Hope this helps.

For windows pc's Photo albums:
1) Create a master sync folder on your pc with no photo files at the root level of the folder.
2) Create sub-folders within the master sync folder with the subfolders named what you want the ipad's photo albums to be named.
3) Place the photo files you want to sync in the appropriate subfolder within the master sync folder.
4) In itunes on the photos tab, select the master folder as the sync folder.
5) After syncing, each subfolder will be an album on the ipad with the proper photos contained there-in.
