Compatible apps for iPad (3rd generation)

Hi. I have an iPad 3rd generation and iOS version is 9.3.6. I cannot install any of widely used applications which I need for my work and daily use. App Store tells that those apps are not compatible with my iPad. What can I do to installed them?

iPad, iOS 9

Absolutely nothing.

That over 8-year old, 2012 iPad 3rd generation cannot be upgraded/updated any farther and there are no more older, compatible, popular, third party apps for that iPad model, any longer.

These old 8 and 9-year old iPad are going to be rendered completely OBSOLETE and fully unsupported by end of 2020!

Here's why and what you will need to do about it in 2020!

I would STOP using that nearly 4-year old Safari web browser, as it is, probably, not safe and secure to use any longer, and seek out a third party web browser that is STILL currently being updated and STILL being supported on iOS 9.3.5.

Here are a few third party web browsers that I am pretty sure are STILL being updated and supported on iOS 9.

Available and more popular third party Web browser choices are completely GONE, now!

There are still a handful of iOS 9 and earlier supported third party Web browsers.

Some of these have had recent updates, too!

Here’s what’s left.

iCab Mobile Web browser

Aloha Web browser

ALook Web browwer

Dolphin Web browser

DuckDuckGo Private Web browser

Snow Bunny Web browser

Maxthon Web browser

Private Browsing Web browser by Savvy Soda

Private Browser Deluxe

TOR browser anonymous

Turbo VPN browser

TOR + VPN web browser private

Pick two to download and install that have had the most recent of app updates. Do not pick any third party Web browser that has NOT had an app update in a year, or more!

Good Luck to You!

Many App Developers have fully dropped support for older devices and iOS versions preceding iOS11/12/13 - and have withdrawn older versions of their Apps from the Apple App Store, now limiting their utility and usefulness.  Once withdrawn, such Apps are no longer available for (re)download or (re)installation - which has negative implications for older devices If they ever have to be reset or restored.

If Apps that you need to use now have higher minimum iOS-version requirements, your only option is to replace your iPad with newer model. Of current models, even iPad7 model supports current iPadOS 13.x and forthcoming iPadOS14 - and has hardware specifications and capabilities that will vastly outperform your old iPad3.

Some Apps have equivalent web portals - allowing you to access some services from a browser. Unfortunately, this mechanism is also becoming more limited as web browsers that you can install/use are also becoming scarce - or unsupported by the target platform.

I hope this information and clarification is helpful - if only in clearly identifying the limitations of older devices.
