Total AV

I had downloaded Total AV but find it not compatible with my iMac so have deleted it. I found that it slowed my mac and became a nuisance. Have I done the right thing?

Adding any third party antivirus, cleaning or other "maintenance" apps to Mac OS does NOT add any additional layer of security. The very best app for keeping Mac OS free from malware, cleaning and other maintenace is Mac OS itself. Simply keep Mac OS up-to-date and otherwise please leave it alone. Please locate the developers uninstall instrucitons for the app you installed and use it.

Adding 3rd party AV, cleaning and other "maintenance" apps serve 2 purposes:

  • They will make your computer slow, unstable and appear buggy.
  • They will waste your money.
