Depends on the ports on your Mac and the inputs on your monitor. With a newer MacBook Air, you'll need a USB-C to XX adapter/cable (where XX matches your display input, likely HDMI or DisplayPort). For an older MacBook Air, a mini-displayport to XX adapter.
