I have an iPhone 8 Plus and I just noticed that there are random pictures (not all of them) that have disappeared from my text messages (when you’re in a message and you tap on the “i” to see the pictures as part of the text conversation. I haven’t installed any updates recently. Does anyone know how to recover those pictures?

It sounds like you are seeing some missing photos within the Messages app. Are you seeing the missing photos being from the same dates, or are they random?
On your iPhone, you can go to Settings > Messages > Keep Messages and make sure it's set to "Forever".
You can also go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and see if your storage is full.

Thanks for the reply!
They are random. I have the setting on “forever” and storage isn’t full yet. I also tried to download from iCloud, which I saw was an option with the “i” and that made me lose almost all pictures. Not sure how that happened.
Any other thoughts?
