How do I do this if the computer I am trying to get files from has a broken display?

My macbook air fell and the display broke in the middle of my finals week. There is "snow"- white with thin colored lines. I wanted to see if there's a way to retrieve my photos from the last few years and school assignments off of it before I send it in to get repaired by apple. Is there a way to transfer my photos/ documents off of it without a display, with my newer macbook air, and with a thunderbolt cable? Thank you!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.13

Hello,

You can try to connect it to working computer and boot it in Target Disk Mode.
