itunes is not recognising my iphone. I am using Macbook pro.

I cannot connect my Iphone X to itunes on my mac book pro.

i have checked that all softwares are up to date.

my phone does connect to charging when connected to my macbook but Itunes still doesn’t recognise it.

please help i really want to do a backup.
