phone insurance

So im wondering if i were to purchase an iphone plan with optus or vodafone could i then go into an apple store to purchase apple care for the device instead of purchasing phone insurance through optus or vodafone?

You have 60 days (from the date of purchase of the iPhone) to buy AppleCare Plus Protection Plan, as per this support article:---> Buy an AppleCare plan - Apple Support

Keep in mind that AppleCare+ is NOT insurance. It is an extended warranty and covers 2 incidents of accidental damage.

It does not cover theft or loss of the device.

Apple does sell a package with theft and loss coverage, but I don't think that's available outside of the US at this time. I'm sure someone will chime in to correct me if I'm wrong on that.
