I want my iPad mini 3 and mini 5 to last as long as possible. Is battery replacement expensive & must the device be sent to Apple? Does the device prevent overcharging to allow it to be used plugged in to lengthen battery life? Does using corded have any drawbacks?

It sounds like you are wondering if you could use the device while plugged in to extend the device's life and are wondering about iPad repair costs. You can always use your device while plugged in of course the biggest draw back is you would have limited mobility options because it is connected to a cord. Thank you Karina. Yes. I do not like changing devices very often, so I keep them a long time. That is a why I am switching to iPads, since they aren't completely outdated even after OS support stops. My corded use would only be at home or in the home office. I am a writer and also do not want to switch back and forth between devices. Rather, I want to write a book exclusively on my iPad, thus My concern for its longevity.
