Apple Card activation

I have an iPad and MacBook but no iPhone and am trying to activate my physical Apple card. I cannot find any resources to help me. I can manage my card easily with my iPad but apparently can’t activate the physical card. Why is there no option to activate it with my iPad, or am I missing something?

Figured out you have to set the card as the default method of payment for Apple in your wallet, then it gives you options to activate the card.
