iPhone XS Max does not fill whole display

My iPhone XS Max does not fill the whole display. There is a small black border around all graphics. It's like that on the home screen and with any app. It wasn't always like that. It's as if the display shrunk a bit. I did an update recently. Maybe that changed it? How do I change it back?

Which new update are you referring to?

iOS Update? Which Version? Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Carrier Update? Contact Carrier. Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
App Update? Which App? Contact App Developer? How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Carrier shouldn't be a problem as no one else in the family is having this issue

It's not just with apps. Even the home screen is like that.
