If old Mac has certain info (songs and photos) stored on an external Drobo and is configured so that old Mac automatically points to Drobo when necessary, will these same "pointing" configurations carry over to new Mac using Migration Assistant?

If you select migrate the settings in MA to the new Mac and assuming the Drobo is connected to the new Mac then you should have no problem.
