I have been receiving calls and texts saying that my Iphone has been compromised, I don’t believe apple would tell me to purchase an app that charges monthly fees. what do you think?

Do you think this is something Apple would do?

iPhone XR, iOS 13

No, Apple doesn't make cold calls and if they for some reason they do call you it will usually be because you called them and they will address you by the name they have on file.

This is a phishing scam that is quite popular now, one day I got one from a neighbor I have coffee with on Wednesday. I also got one from a local church.
