If you’re using messages in iCloud (Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support) then messages are not part of any backup and deletions are permanent.

The two possible ways to recover that text depending on how you backup.


If you backup with iCloud, you would have to erase the device in the settings and when you get to the point where you can restore a backup, select iCloud and if you see an older backup than the previous one, you can restore that backup.


You can do something similar in iTunes if you have an archived backup that contains that text. It would have to be a recent archived backup.


If neither of those works, It’s gone and cannot be recovered.
