Printer setup/connection

Trying to hook up to my schools printer and these were the directions I was given. Not sure how to find some of this stuff.

Make sure your Mac is connected to
Secure Wi-Fi
Click the Finder icon in the bottom left corner of your screen
At the top of your screen, click Go in the Menu Bar
Choose Connect to Server

Your school would have needed to provide the printer's IP address, but those instructions are not logical. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click the (+) button at the bottom left, select the IP tab and enter the printer's IP address to connect.
