I am trying to update my computer to Catalina....
I have a mid 2010 iMac. It does not show my iMac on the list. Are there upgrades I can make to the hardware to keep it going? Will this be expensive?
iMac 27″, macOS 10.12

Maybe you could find an affordable used iMac from 2012 or later which can support Catalina.

No there are no upgrades you can do other than buying a new Mac.
In this day, it is impossible to afford a Mac. So this is forcing me to go back to Windows????
There has to be another way.....
