Hallo. I'm getting a new MacBook Pro. I have iCloud enabled so I believe all my files are in the ether. What is the best way to transfer files to my new baby and make sure I don't lose anything in the process. Thank you kindly.

You could try migration assistant or maybe use Time Machine; before or after new install, etc.
There may be at least two or more means toward this; not just file transfer. ~ Make backups &
use time machine on external drive; in addition. You can move info 'to & from' different macs.
