My iPad has iTunes store but not iTunes and apparently I need iTunes to do updates. How do I get iTunes?

Hello, my iPad has iTunes store but not iTunes and apparently I need iTunes to do updates. How do I get iTunes?

Right before this, I was doing verification updates and it said Verification Failed. One of the messages I got was 'Error Connecting Apple ID'

And before that my iPad said 'Cannot connect to App store'.

And before that my Youtube app was stuck in 'Waiting' on my iPad.

I hope you can help me please. Thanks

Why do you need iTunes for?

I believe you are looking for the music app, I don't believe the iPad or iPhone have ever had iTunes they have music, audiobook, podcast apps and then iTunes Store/App Store.

If you want to Update apps you do this through the App Store app, once on the app click on the right hand side where the little head is, if you then pull down on the screen it will show any apps available for update

If your trying to do a software update this is done via settings - settings, general, software update

You would not need or use iTunes on the iPad for updates.

What you read online is incorrect, as you don't need iTunes, you need the App Store to update apps.

Can you post screenshots with what you see as I am struggling to help you as your description is vague.

This may help you - Update apps or use automatic downloads – Apple Support

What iOS are you running? You need to be running iOS 11 or later to use YouTube.

Thanks

Thanks for replying. Ok, I read online that I need iTunes in order to update my iPad and update the Youtube app.

My App Store doesn't have a little head to the right unfortunately. What it has is, a page with lots of apps and games. I see Youtube watch listen. I click on it. A pop-up comes up with the word Open written in blue in a very small box. I click on Open. But it takes me to a page that says Update Required. I click on Update and it brings me back to the same previous page with the lots of apps and games. This happens over and over and over again.

BECAUSE I didn’t realize I had asked the same question twice in the same place and/or I had not given you enough information for you to work with and/or I had not seen your answer before I posted. Your answer would have been the right answer if I didn’t have 2 and a half challenges with my iPad instead of just 1. Well, it turns out that asking the question again did provide a better response.

If ever this customer should have a problem with an Apple product again, and asks this community for help, feel free to not answer. Thanxx

Sorry for my late reply. I couldn’t send a screenshot because I think I typed the question on either this IPhone or my non Apple laptop, while my iPad lay disabled. But I used the link you gave me and that seemed to have worked! And it’s a good thing you told me I needed version 11 or later to use YouTube.

Really? It actually takes a bit of effort to start a new thread with the very same subject. I find it hard to believe you didn't realize you asked the same question multiple times. This simply makes it difficult for us volunteer users to help you. But you seem to indicate you got a "better response" so I hope that means your issue is now resolved, which is good.
