I just got this Ipod touch (in fact I'm on it right now... but when I go to iTunes, it won'tlet me sync the iPod. The version of iTunes is over version nine so that's not the problem. I think the problem is that I don't have Internet at home. But even if I didn't have Internet I should still be able to sync songs that are already on my computer, shouldn't I?

What do you mean it won't let you sync? How are you trying to sync?

You select sync music, you select the music to sync, then hit sync?

    What happens?

Do you get an error message?

    What does it say?

When I plug the iPod in it shows up in iTunes. However when I click on the iPod under devices there is no tabs that say music and such. Also when you go to file and you see a menu item that says sync to iPod it is not acessable. I have tried dragging the music selection to the iPod and this does not work either. In iTunes it appears to be syncing but when I remove theipod from the computer there is no music or video on it.

I'm having this exact same issue. I've reinstalled and updated iTunes, but no luck. I've also tried all the other basic troubleshooting steps, including trying it on a different computer. It's hard for me to work on this as I am currently deployed into Afghanistan. I've had my iPod Touch for two weeks now and have not gotten it to work.

Have you gone to the music tab and selected sync music and selected the music that you want to sync.

You don't go under devices you go to the tab in the main screen.

If you want to drag and drop you must click manually manage music.

Have you looked at the manual?

I don't think you understand our issue fully. We both had to attemt the drag-and-drop method because other issues exist.

When I connect my iPod Touch, iTunes shows the iPod touch on the side-bar on the left-hand side of the screen. Howevever, that's all it shows. There are no tabs to go with it, such as 'music', 'movies', 'info'. Additionally, when I go to the file menu, the option to Sync the iPod is inaccessible.

I did manage to get a few songs synced to the iPod, but now I am experiencing an additional problem. The only way I could get music onto the iPod was to drag-and-drop a playlist. I chose my "recently added" playlist. Now on my iPod I can only see a few songs, yet the iPod claims it only has 8 gigs left of space. How to access those hidden songs?

Since I have no option to manually manage content on the iPod, I was forced to erase all content from the iPod. A third sympom shows up. Now my iPod is stuck on the screen that says I need to connect to iTunes.

I'm going to reboot my machine again and see if I can't start figurnig some of this out.
