My iphone is stuck on the apple screen

My husband went to use his phone today and it is stuck on the apple screen. I think it is 6s (all it says is s on back). Anyway, how can I get it to reboot (I tried restarting and hard reboot pin).

Click and hold volume down button for 10 sec and release then do the same for volume up and release then hold power button until screen appears black
